Hand Painted Southern Signs

These are a few of my newest painting endeavors.  I think my husband is going to go crazy, if I start one more project...  Bless his heart for marrying a creative, Southern girl with a bad case of ADD.

The signs vary in size, but measure approximately 6"x18".  They retail for $35 and are hand painted upon request.  May be painted with your favorite saying, quote, etc. and color choice.

Please contact me with questions or for additional information or to place an order, blufftonbellcreations@hotmail.com. May also be purchased at Eggsintricities or Gigi's Boutique in Bluffton, SC.

The logistics of maintaining and developing a blog are a lot to learn! It has been a pretty steep learning curve for me. I really appreciate your patience during this "Work in Progress" state.

Painted Vintage Tins

So, I'm obviously new to blogging and I'm thinking I should have educated myself more before starting, but too late now...!  I have a few favorite blogs that I check everyday, hoping to find a new post with entertaining words and inspiring pictures.  Yes, I do follow them, but sometimes I just can't wait!  My point is, that if anyone is reading this, I am committed to updating on a much more consistent basis.

Anyway, I've had a lot on my mind lately and I'm thinking that my blog can serve as both a therapeutic and creative outlet.

Lately I've been working on painting these really cool tin shingles.  Originally, they were used as a roof on the Deer Tongue Building in Bluffton, SC.  I know you're reading the words Deer Tongue and thinking Oh, No!  Actually, Deer Tongue is a kind of herb that was used as a tobacco and tea filler.  Over ten years ago, my father and his law partner completely restored the historic building and turned it into a Low Country seafood restaurant.  Since the tin roof wasn't really salvageable, my dad gave a bunch of them to me.

Here are a few of the finished products:
(of course I can't figure out how to rotate the pictures, so if anyone can help a girl out...I would be so grateful!)
Hot pink with lime green accent dots
Baby girl pink with white accent dots
Southern blue with white accent dots
Lime green with teal accent dots
As you can see, even after painting, they are still pretty rustic and vintage-looking.  I painted the center (black square) with chalk board paint.  Another cool quality (which I realized by accident) is that they are magnetic!  Artsy and functional!

The draped ribbons will be used to hand the tins (as soon as I find the charger for my drill...).  I have also added felt pads to the back, so that they don't scratch or damage the wall.

The tins can be personalized, at no extra cost, with your favorite color combinations, in addition to adding a name &/or painted figure (like a train, flower, etc.).  Will post more pictures soon.

I think they would be perfect as a kitchen message board, on a child's bedroom door, on the front door of your house, etc.  If you are interested in a painted vintage tin, please contact me.
